OUR STORY
(by Andy)

Our journey to Jackson began during our first year at Washington and Lee University. After chasing Mary down in the dining hall to ask if she would attend my fraternity spring formal, little did I know what exciting adventures were to come. For the rest of our time in Lexington, Mary and I remained good friends (emphasis on “friends”), while unknowingly putting a hold on any serious relationship. After graduating, Mary began her interior design pursuits in New York City and I returned to Texas to work in oil and gas.

Fast forward to a Roberts family trip to Jackson Hole at the end of 2016. Knowing Mary and her family had long called Jackson their home away from Virginia, I was fortunate to have her show my siblings and me around the ski slopes and recommend a fine Jenny Lake Lager. We brought in the New Year together at the Mangy Moose and continued to stay in touch afterward.
However, we both agreed that a long distance relationship between NYC and San Antonio would be a challenge, and our future together was put on hold once again. Another year passed and the Roberts family decided to spend yet another New Years in Jackson. With ample time spent together over this trip, I resolved that enough was enough and I needed to make this girl mine.
After that trip, we decided to give long distance a shot. Mary was considering leaving New York, and I was deciding between Austin or Golden, CO for graduate school. Other factors were certainly at play for determining where we both would land, and while we might not have admitted it at the time, the prospect of us both in Austin was at the top of our lists.
As we’ve grown closer together in Austin, we have both had to make adjustments - Mary to the Texas heat (status TBD) and me to Packers football. From traveling, time spent with great people, and now with our new puppy, Bruce, we feel blessed to have shared many great memories. We are thrilled to be getting married in such a special place that brought our paths back together and look forward to celebrating with family and friends in Jackson come July 2022.
Mary, I can't wait for forever.
